The Gîte du Volcan is located just 600 metres from the entrance to Piton de la Fournaise crater, enabling hikers and other volcano enthusiasts to spend the night close by with no fear for their safety, with dormitories for 4, 6 or 8 people available.Towels are not included. The gite offers sanitary facilities. Available hot water and electricity depend on the solar energy. As the electrical energy is solar , it is limited. It is also impossible to recharge your camera, handy, video camera etc… Please make arrangements for this.
A major attraction here is taking a moonlight walk across Plaine des Sables. The gite has a restaurant with panoramic views of La Rivière de l'Est. Morning, midday and evening meals available upon reservation 48 hours in advance. For security reasons it is impossible to reheat meals or to do the cooking oneself. The kitchen is not at customers’ disposal.
The gite is a member of the Association des Gestionnaires des Gîtes de Montagne (AGGM). Pets not allowed.
